I was driving into work the other day and I saw a "dude" running/jogging down the road. I watched him with amazement. I mean he had a gut as big as mine but he was still givener. I began to think to myself---(this is where things get a little weird)-- "Man, Nike really is a smart company. They now have marketed their shoes in such a way that even fat, out of shape. dudes feel like if they need to go for a run they need some $100 pair of shoe. But to build more on that: this guy had the whole deal cookin. I mean he had some special short that were way too tight, but they looked expensive. He also had this shirt on that was very stretchy and had some special pockets in it--- for snacks I'm assuming ;). As i watched this guy going down the road--love handles bouncing and exhaustion on his face. I realized we are all just marketable. I was thinking-- When this guy was standing in Dick's Sporting goods picking out his $300 running out fit was he thinking 'This will do the trick' Yellow shirt, check: Red spandex shorts, check: multi colored running shoes, check.... Boom now i can run!"
Yes I know I am shallow at times. I think this guy is making life changes that are more powerful than I am doing. Right now I am sitting here drinking my Monster Energy drink and ate my (fresh) breakfast pizza on the drive in. But here's the reality. When we want to go for a run..........Just RUN.......... You dont have to look the role. You dont have to have the special suite. You dont even need the special shoes. Many times people see right through that stuff anyways. All they see is your boobs bouncing and your love-handles swaying.
God expects us to run toward Him. He designed us to be unique and not just to "look the part"!!! Yes He wants us to run towards him! Not in some silly track outfit but in our normal way--might i even say naked.. Please dont--Im just drawing a picture here.
Ephesians 2: 8,9---God saved you by HIS special favor when YOU believed. And YOU can't take credit for this; it is a gift from GOD. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
When you see me running through town --in my new track suit, or maybe naked-- give a little honk of the horn and know that I am running towards Jesus. Feel free to join me
